Open Positions
At ACS Research we're building a tool that gives researchers access to LLM base models, as these are increasingly important for understanding LLMs and interpretability or behavioral research. The platform https://infra.acsresearch.org/ is currently at a beta stage. The next steps are growing the user base and improving/finalizing the platform.
We are primarily hiring for help with the platform. However, for the right person, we'd happily broaden the role into other parts of ACS such as internal tooling and engineering, communication and outreach, or other suitable roles depending on their interests and skills.

- For all roles, we are open to considering people of all seniority levels.
- We are open to modifying the roles depending on skills and interest – both in terms of time commitments (part-time vs full-time) and specific responsibilities.

Role: Product Engineer
You'd be the person coding and actually developing the platform. Your goal would be to help us get the platform to a finalized state where all features critical for research work smoothly and minor bugs are being fixed within 1-2 business days.
The work:
- Developing the platform – currently runs on Modal (compute + inference endpoints) and Railway (frontend + DB). You can see what it does in our public tutorial.
- Coding – implementing and testing new features, fixing bugs quickly after they arise
- Help with analyzing usage data and possibly figuring out how to improve the platform
- (Level of autonomy is up to debate, can start helping with specific tasks and grow into owning the technical side later)
Required
- Skilled in coworking with Claude Code / coding agents (e.g. for debugging or implementing new features)
- Comfortable with basic development workflows like git/PRs (no need to be strong solo coder)
- Can't stand UX/UI imperfections and roughness, feels the urge to find and fix it all
Nice to have
- Experience running open-source LLMs, doing research with LLM activations, or knowing what the following means: logprobs, activations, sampling temperature, tokenizer
- Being happy to communicate with users and implement their feedback
The offer:
- $70-200k/year at full time, prorated; depends highly on location and experience
- Remote-first, async-friendly, flexible
- 0.5-1 FTE for at least 6 months
- We expect the core of the work to be around 0.5 FTE. For great candidates we're happy to offer 1 FTE, expanding the role depending on your interests and skills, e.g. via
- taking on the user/growth side of the platform too if you are happy interacting with users and thinking about how to expand the platform (see the second role)
- or helping more broadly with ACS internal tooling (e.g. agent infrastructure)
- Budget for AI credits, office and other relevant equipment, travel to relevant events etc.
- Contributing to humanity's understanding of LLM psychology and AI safety
Role: Product and Growth Lead
You'd be the person keeping the platform alive and growing, engaging with existing and prospective users, shaping the roadmap and features we ship. Your goal would be to ensure that after 6 months we have an active user base utilizing our platform for meaningful research.
The work:
- Owning the user and growth side of the platform
- Keeping the platform alive and useful by communicating with existing users, providing support, gathering feedback, and suggesting improvements
- Outreach and user recruitment – finding and inviting the right researchers, through communities, channels, and events; helping with onboarding
- Analyzing usage data and deciding what to prioritize (together with the platform owner and the rest of our team)
- Level of autonomy and scope is up to debate – you can start helping in specific areas and gradually grow into owning the platform as a whole. After a few months, ideally you'd own the product backlog and roadmap and help make the decisions about what should be done.
Required
- Independence and ownership – we can rely on you, don't need to micromanage, you proactively take ownership of things you see that need to be done but would normally slip through the cracks
- Startup mentality – you think how the product can succeed; aren't afraid to try things, fail and pivot
- Being a generalist – you can wear many hats (product owner, designer, marketing, analyst, …) without necessarily being an expert on any of the areas
- Product and communication sense - you can talk to a user, dig out what they actually need, shape the product roadmap accordingly
- Decent experience with AI assistants
Nice to have
- Technical experience, web development, LLMs
- Experience with designing products, managing projects, organizing events, …
- Knowledge of the LLM psychology / cyborgism / AI safety research communities
- Being good at networking
